The Acid Attack Survivor Fashion Show

Originally aired in 2016, some of the information and facts may have changed since original broadcast. At the time of recording in 2016, acid attacks were on the increase in the UK, with men accounting for the majority of targets. In Bangladesh, it is women and girls who are most likely to be victims of acid violence. VICE journalist Zing Tsjeng spoke to Bangladeshi survivors and fashion designer Bibi Russell, who were coming together to put on an ActionAid UK fashion show in London to raise awareness of the issue. One of the models, Sonali, was only a baby when acid was thrown over her and her family. Fifteen years later, Sonali joins other acid attack victims to stride down the Survivors’ Runway in a show that seeks to celebrate the fighting spirit of these women.
