Roger Deakins and Matthew Heineman On Depicting the Drug War in Film

Roger Deakins is the legendary cinematographer behind such films as No Country For Old Men, Fargo and Shawshank Redemption. This year, he received his 13th Oscar nomination for Sicario, a dark thriller set in the world of Mexican drug cartels. Fellow 2016 Oscar nominee Matthew Heineman, director of the acclaimed documentary Cartel Land, which chronicles the complexity of the ongoing drug war in Mexico, meets Deakins to discuss the overlapping themes of their respective films.
